Bail was set at $6,000 Monday for a nursing assistant accused of stuffing a sock into the mouth of an elderly resident at Sunnyside Care Center.
Quantel Emiel Morris, 36, of 204½ Willow St. W., Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with mistreatment of a nursing home patient, a gross misdemeanor.
According to court records, on Jan. 4 he was working at Sunnyside Nursing Center near Lake Park, where he was employed as a certified nursing assistant.
He was in the room of a 98-year-old woman when another nursing assistant entered the room and saw that Morris had allegedly stuffed a sock in the woman's mouth while he attended to her needs.
When confronted, Morris allegedly said the woman wouldn't quit hollering while he was changing her. The second nursing assistant immediately reported the incident.

Morris is no longer employed at Sunnyside.
He was arrested over the weekend after being spotted at Walmart by people who knew there was a warrant out for his arrest.
He appeared Monday before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail or bond at $6,000 and set his next court appearance for Feb. 22. He was ordered to have no contact with Sunnyside nursing home.
