A Brainerd man was sentenced recently Becker County District Court on a felony charge of violating an order for protection.

Scott Robert Beckett, 39, of 2813 Blair St., Brainerd, was ordered to serve 26 months in prison and fined $410.

He was initially charged in connection with a domestic disturbance that was reported on June 29 in Lake Park.

According to the criminal complaint, a woman reported to local law enforcement that she and Beckett had gotten into an argument at her home; Beckett had been prohibited from having contact with her due to an order for protection that had been filed against him.

Beckett was found hiding in the bedroom closet of the residence, and reportedly told officers, "I know I'm not supposed to be here."
