Carnival worker arrested for assault at Red River Valley Fair

WEST FARGO - A carnival worker at the Red River Valley Fair was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of hitting another carnival worker in the head with a hammer, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said.

WEST FARGO – A carnival worker at the Red River Valley Fair was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of hitting another carnival worker in the head with a hammer, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said.

The assault happened just before 10 p.m. at one of the carnival rides, according to a Sheriff’s Office report on the incident.

One man was detained at the fair office shortly after the incident occurred and later transported to the Cass County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.

He was identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Richard W. Warham, 49.

The victim, identified as Jesus G. Avila, 39, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The Sheriff’s Office said both were employees of Johnny Reed Carnival.
