Check charge dismissed

A felony charge of issuing dishonored checks was dismissed for an Osage woman in Becker County District Court last week, after she successfully completed probation.

A felony charge of issuing dishonored checks was dismissed for an Osage woman in Becker County District Court last week, after she successfully completed probation.

Karen Ann Haverinen, 24, of 20386 County Road 39, Osage, pleaded guilty Oct. 19, 2009 to one felony count of issuing dishonored checks worth more than $500; the charge was continued for dismissal by District Court Judge Joseph Evans, on the condition that she paid $579.49 restitution within one year, and successfully completed all other terms of her probation.

An order for dismissal was signed by the judge on Nov. 10, after Haverinen paid all restitution in full and completed probation successfully.

According to court records, Haverinen wrote three NSF checks, totaling $519, on three different occasions in May and June of 2009.
