Dominic Lewis Kroulik, 21, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony second-degree riot.
According to court records, on Oct. 23, 2019, Kroulik hit a man in the head with a golf club (a sand wedge) while the victim was fighting with someone else at a Detroit Lakes residence. Two people witnessed the assault.
On June 11, Becker County District Judge Jay Carlson stayed imposition of sentence and placed Kroulik on supervised probation for five years.
He was ordered to serve 197 days in jail, with credit for 197 days served, and was fined $1,000 plus $1,365 in court fees.
He was ordered to get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare.

Pistol drops at feet of teen during drug bust
Ty Aukes, 18, of Park Rapids, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime, gross misdemeanor possessing a pistol without a permit, and misdemeanor DWI.
According to court records, at 2:01 a.m. Aug. 29, a Becker County deputy clocked his vehicle going 37 mph in a 60 mph zone on Highway 59, without a rear license plate light. The deputy smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and as Aukes was being detained, a pistol fell at his feet. A search of the vehicle turned up 1.24 grams of cocaine, 365 grams of loose leaf marijuana, edible marijuana bars, nine Xanax pills, and seven Vyvanse pills. He was arrested and taken to jail.
On Aug. 31, District Judge Gretchen Thilmony set cash bail for Aukes at $300 or bond at $3,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $10,000 without conditions. He posted $300 cash bail and was released Aug. 31.
Man sentenced for assaulting 9-year-old
Robert Lee Bodin, 49, of Twin Valley, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault.
According to court records, on May 28, 2019, he assaulted his girlfriend's 9-year-old son, pushing him, smacking him on the head, and calling him “worthless,” “bastard” and “bitch,” according to the criminal complaint. The assault occurred at a rural Frazee residence. The woman said Bodin had disciplined her son before, but this punishment was “extreme.”
On June 3, Becker County District Judge Mike Fritz sentenced him to a year and a day in prison at St. Cloud, stayed five years.
Bodin was ordered to serve 45 days in jail, with credit for 31 days served. He was authorized to complete his sentence on electronic home monitoring at his own expense.
He was fined $1,000 plus $1,165 in court fees, and was ordered to get domestic abuse and chemical dependency evaluations and follow the recommendations, including aftercare.

He must follow all domestic abuse no-contact orders issued in the case, and was placed on supervised probation for five years.
A second count of felony domestic assault was dropped in a plea agreement.
Frazee woman sentenced for selling meth
Holly Ann Weaver, 23, of Frazee, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a probation violation for felony third-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on April 11, 2016, she was involved in the sale of 11.9 grams of meth (with packaging) to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
On June 15, Becker County District Judge Mike Fritz stayed imposition of sentence and placed her on supervised probation for 20 years.
She was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for four days served, and was fined $1,000 plus $1,085 in court fees.
She was ordered to get chemical dependency and mental health evaluations and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. And she must successfully complete the Becker County Drug Court program.
White Earth man sentenced for beating woman, breaking tooth
Dominique Natasha Lucifer (previously known as Jason Michael Durant), 46, of White Earth has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to court records, on Dec. 26, 2019, he assaulted his girlfriend of eight months, beating her up during an argument and leaving her with a broken tooth and her face bruised and swollen.
On June 11, Becker County District Judge Jay Carlson sentenced him on the felony charge to 21 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed five years.
Lucifer was ordered to serve 43 days in jail, with credit for 43 days served, and was fined $1,000 plus $1,165 in court fees.
He was ordered to get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare, to complete the White Earth violence prevention program, and to get a complete diagnostic assessment and follow the recommendations. A domestic abuse no-contact order was issued to protect the victim, and he was placed on supervised probation for five years.
On the misdemeanor charge, Lucifer was ordered to pay a $200 fine and $365 in court fees. He must serve 30 days in jail, with 27 days stayed one year and credit for three days served.
Man gets over 5 years prison for driving under the influence
Harry Lawrence Lavallie, 46, of St. Paul, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony DWI.
According to court records, on July 30, 2019, a state trooper in Detroit Lakes pulled over the vehicle he was driving, because of altered license plate tabs that had expired in April of that year. His license had been canceled as inimical to public safety.
The trooper found a used syringe on the floor of the car, and noticed that Lavallie had an elevated demeanor, uncontrolled twitches and quick speech.

Lavallie admitted using meth two days earlier, and failed a balance test. He was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and a urine sample was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.
He was previously convicted of felony first-degree DWI in 2004.
On June 2, Becker County District Judge Jay Carlson sentenced Lavallie to 62 months in prison at St. Cloud, and ordered him to pay a $50 fine and $215 in court fees.
2 face meth charges after Detroit Lakes traffic stop
Emily Katherine Scott, 30, of Baxter, Minn. has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony third-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on Aug. 26, she was pulled over by a Detroit Lakes police officer for driving without a front license plate.
The temporary North Dakota permit on her vehicle was from May 30. She did not have a valid driver’s license and she was wanted on an arrest warrant from Otter Tail County. A search of her fanny pack revealed .9 grams of meth and an unspecified “large amount” of cash, according to the criminal complaint.
A passenger in her vehicle, James Kyle Bachmeier, 33, of Detroit Lakes, was charged with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime. A small baggie of meth was found on the floor of the vehicle near where he had been sitting, and a search at the jail turned up 2.8 grams of meth on him, for a total of 4.1 grams of meth.
On Aug. 28, District Judge Mike Fritz set cash bail for Scott at $750 or bond at $7,500, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $10,000 without conditions.
