Toman Davin Matthews, 49, whose residence is listed as the Becker County Jail, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to court records, on Oct. 7, 2019, a girl under the age of 12 participated in a forensic interview at the Red River Child Advocacy Center and said that Matthews had engaged in forced sexual contact with her in August of that year at a location in Becker County.
On Dec. 12, Becker County District Judge Jay Carlson sentenced Matthews on the first count to 144 months in prison at St. Cloud, and ordered him to pay a $50 fine and $140 in court fees, to be taken from prison wages.
On the second count, he was sentenced to 90 months in prison, to be served concurrently. He was given credit for 423 days served in jail. A petition for civil commitment is not indicated at this time, according to court records.
DL man charge with violating predatory offender law
Kevin Wayne Fineday Jr., 26, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with violating the predatory offender registration law.

According to court records, on Aug. 26, a Detroit Lakes police investigator learned that Fineday was involved in an assault in rural Becker County. Fineday’s registered address was a rental unit in Detroit Lakes, but several people there said he hadn’t been seen there for some time, and the property owner said Fineday had moved out several weeks earlier.
He has been wanted on a warrant since Sept. 9, after being accused of an Aug. 23 assault on his girlfriend.
On Dec. 3, District Judge Joe Evans issued a new warrant for his arrest.
Two face drug charges after police find meth and pills
Joseph Scott Geshick, 29, of Ogema, and Ashlea Marie Mertens, 29, of rural Waubun, have both been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, at 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 1, a Frazee police officer noticed two people in a parked Dodge Durango with White Earth plates. He found that Geshick was associated with the car and that he was wanted on a warrant.
He was arrested, and the officer found .94 grams of meth on him in a small baggie. Mertens purse was searched and just over half a gram of meth was found 54 Gabapentin pills in a clear plastic bag, five Lorazepam pills, 11 Alprazolam pills and over two grams of a white powdery substance in two different baggies. A box of 9 mm ammunition was also found in the center console.
On Dec. 3, District Judge Joe Evans ordered Geshick released without bail, under standard conditions, and set cash bail for Mertens at $500 or bond at $5,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $20,000 without conditions.
Detroit Lakes man charged for meth and trespassing
Kyle Jay Kellogg, 38, of Detroit Lakes, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime and misdemeanor trespass.

According to court records, on Nov. 29 police were called because he was trespassing at a woman’s residence in Detroit Lakes. Police found him near the railroad tracks. He was found with .68 grams of meth on him, had an active warrant, and was arrested and taken to jail. The trespass order had been served on him in September.
On Dec. 1, District Judge Jay Carlson set cash bail for Kellogg at $1,000 or bond at $10,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $20,000 without conditions.
