Man charged with illegal firearm
Jason Everett Hanks Sr., 40, of rural Ogema has been charged in Becker County District Court with felon in possession of a firearm, a felony.
According to court records, on Dec. 10, an agent with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force obtained a search warrant for a Becker County residence, after receiving information that Hanks was selling drugs there.
Hanks was home at the time the search warrant was served, and a firearm was located within feet of his bed. He admitted he did not have his gun rights, but said the firearm belonged to someone else in the home and had been there about a week. He was previously convicted of felony burglary and making terroristic threats, and is prohibited from owning a gun.
Hanks Sr. appeared in court Dec. 12 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who set bail at $10,000 or bond at $100,000, with conditions, or bond at $150,000 without standard conditions of release.
