Inmate who walked away from work release program in Becker County captured

An inmate that walked away from a Becker County work release program has been captured. According to Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander, Ricardo Daniel Gomez, 41, of Willmar was picked up in Swift County and is being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail, where his original conviction was out of.

Gomez was housed at the minimum security workhouse in Detroit Lakes and was reported absent from his work assignment at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16. Prior to being approved for the work release program in Becker County, Gomez had been serving a sentence in Stillwater’s state prison for a 2014 controlled substance crime. He was not considered a danger to the public.
