Callaway man sentenced for violating predatory offender law
Kevin George Clark, 55, of Callaway has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony violating the state's predatory offender registration law.
According to court records, on Dec. 20, 2017, a Becker County sheriff's investigator doing annual checks on predatory offenders went to his residence in Lake Park and found nobody home. A neighbor said Clark no longer lived there. The landlord confirmed that Clark left several months earlier, prior to June of 2017. Clark did not update his address with law enforcement as required.
He is required to register as a sex offender until 2020 after pleading guilty to felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime in 2009.
Clark appeared in court Nov. 21 before Becker County District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who sentenced him to a year and a day in prison, stayed five years.
He was fined $1,000 plus $1,365 in court fees, and was ordered to serve 90 days in jail, with credit for three days served, and work release privileges granted. He was placed on supervised probation for five years.
