DL man tries to run after 10-mile car chase, caught by K9 unit
Brandon Travis Vogt, 26, of rural Detroit Lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer on foot.
According to court records, at 2:08 a.m. on Nov. 30, a deputy at a gas station in rural Becker County heard a vehicle with loud exhaust. The deputy allegedly saw an equipment violation in the 1998 Subaru Legacy, began to follow it, and saw that it was speeding.
When the deputy activated his emergency quad car lights to pull over the Subaru, allegedly driven by Vogt, the car sped up and led the deputy on a 10-mile pursuit. It ended when Vogt allegedly drove into a field and parked near a tree line, then tried to run away. He was caught by a K9 unit. There were two felony warrants out for his arrest.
Vogt appeared in court Dec. 3 before District Judge Janet Poston, who set cash bail at $1,000 or bond at $10,000, with conditions, or bond at $20,000 without standard conditions of release.
