Man wanted by Hawley police for fleeing officers, stealing vehicle
HAWLEY, Minn. — Hawley police are asking for the public's help in locating a man after he fled from officers on foot, stole a vehicle and crashed into a home.
At about 5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 5, police tried to make a traffic stop near the intersection of 10th and Hartford Street in Hawley when a male suspect fled on foot.
Police later spotted the same suspect driving east on Main Street in a stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to pull him over, his vehicle left the road, first hitting a tree and then a home in the 600 block of First Street before the suspect fled on foot again, according to police.
Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Burton Bonham, who has active warrants out of Clay and Cass County. They ask anyone with information about where he is to contact local law enforcement.
