Vincent James Hawks, 30, of rural Waubun has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree burglary. A gross misdemeanor theft charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Nov. 20, 2018, Hawks loaded two HP All-in-One personal computers (priced at $399 each) into a shopping cart at the Detroit Lakes Walmart and wheeled it out the door without paying. He was pulled over by a tribal police officer on County Road 21.
On Aug. 6, District Judge Jay Carlson sentenced him to 26 months in prison at St. Cloud and ordered him to pay a $50 fine and $215 in court fees.
