Mary Rose Thompson, 26, of Ponsford has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, felony receiving stolen property and gross misdemeanor DWI.
According to court records, at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 7 a Becker County deputy clocked the Honda Accord she was driving at 69 mph in a 55 mph zone on County Road 26, just east of County Road 37.
According to court records, Thompson sped away when the officer tried to pull her over, failed to stop at a stop sign and eventually spun out into a ditch.
Thompson told the officer the Honda was a friend’s car and she didn’t know it was a stolen vehicle. She said she tried to evade the deputy because she thought there was a warrant out for her arrest. A passenger in her car said she and Thompson had been drinking alcohol and hanging out.
She failed several sobriety tests and her tongue was green, with heat bumps on the back of it, according to court records. She admitted she had smoked meth the day before.
A warrant was obtained to have her blood drawn at the hospital. She was previously convicted of DWI in 2010 and 2018. An order for detention was issued in Becker County District Court Aug. 9.
