DL man sentenced for selling meth
Trent Rain Poitra, 21, of Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on March 11, 2018, he sold just over a half-gram of meth for $20 to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
On March 20, 2018, he sold 1.85 grams of meth to the informant for $160.
On March 28, 2018, he sold just over a gram of meth to the confidential reliable informant for $100.
Poitra appeared in Becker County District Court May 21 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who stayed imposition of sentence and ordered him to serve 45 days in jail, with credit for 15 days served. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, plus $1,165 in court fees. He must abstain from drugs and alcohol, get a chemical dependency evaluation, and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. He was placed on supervised probation for 20 years.
