Willmar man gets 25 months for Becker County escape
Ricardo Daniel Gomez, 42, of Willmar, was sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony escape from custody.
According to court records, in May of 2015 he was convicted on a second-degree felony drug charge and sentenced to 88 months in prison. He was set for supervised release in 2019.
On Jan. 25, 2018, he joined the Minnesota Department of Corrections Institution Community Work Crew, housed at the Becker County Jail in Detroit Lakes and working with a crew at the county recycling center.
On June 16, 2018, he was released from jail as usual to work with the crew for the day, but he took off and never went back. He was caught 10 days later.
Gomez appeared in court June 13 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who sentenced him to 25 months in prison at St. Cloud, to be served concurrently with another case. He was ordered to pay a $50 fine and $215 in court fees.
