A Detroit Lakes man was arrested after a dead cat was removed from his residence.
Timothy Lee, 30, was arrested Thursday morning, Sept. 26, by the Becker County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Becker County Sheriff's office responded to a report of a dead cat hanging from the grill of a truck at a home in the Kountry Manor Mobile Home Park, according to a news release. Kountry Manor is about 4 miles north of the Detroit Lakes city limits.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they removed the cat and no contact was made with Lee at the time, according to the release. After follow-up visits were unanswered, the office opened an investigation.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, after a North Dakota television reporter tried to speak to Lee, he became confrontational, according to the release. Deputies were called to the scene again. Officers cleared the scene and no arrests were made, according to the release.
Thursday morning, sheriff's deputies returned to Lee's home to collect the cats. Lee gave the three cats to the deputies voluntarily, according to the release.
He was placed under arrest and booked at the Becker County Jail with animal cruelty charges pending, according to the release
