A rural Park Rapids woman is facing charges after a Dec. 3 police chase.
Rochelle Wendi Nelson, 31, was charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor driving after her license was revoked.
According to court records, on Dec. 3, a Detroit Lakes police officer attempted to pull her vehicle over because her rear license plate was completely covered by snow.
Instead of stopping, police say Nelson accelerated through a parking lot, going around several vehicles, then driving down city streets at 45 mph with no attempt to slow down or stop. She eventually stopped long enough to let two men out, then continued to flee at speeds up to 65 mph in a 30 mph city zone, according to court records.
She eventually pulled over and was arrested. She was wanted on two felony warrants and her driver’s license was revoked, according to court records.
Nelson appeared in Becker County District Court Dec. 4 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who set cash bail at $1,000 or bond at $10,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $20,000 with no conditions.
