Ashley Jennifer Stevens, 30, of rural Ponsford has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree assault.
A felony charge of second-degree assault was dismissed in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Sept. 20, 2018, Becker County officers responded to an assault report on the 46000 block of Shinob Trail in Pine Point Township.
An officer made contact with the victim at the Park Rapids hospital emergency room. The woman said that at 3 p.m. she had answered a knock at her door and several people were there, including Stevens, who punched her in the face with brass knuckles.
A man and another woman helped assault the victim, kicking her legs out from under her so she fell down, and then repeatedly kicking her. Afterward, the three threatened to burn her house and damage her car.
The victim’s eye was black and blue, she had a large bump on her forehead, a cut upper lip, bruising around her left ear and ring finger and pain on the right side of her back.
On Jan. 10, Stevens appeared before District Judge Jay Carlson, who stayed imposition of sentence and placed her on supervised probation for five years.
She was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for one day served, and was fined $1,000 plus $1,065 in court fees. Work release privileges were granted.
