MAHNOMEN, Minn. — A 3-year-old girl was in critical condition at a Fargo hospital Wednesday, June 10, after an incident in Mahnomen authorities are now investigating as a report of child abuse.
The child was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo on Monday at around 4:30 p.m. after the incident, according to the Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and White Earth Tribal Police Department were outside of the Riverland Apartments in Mahnomen Tuesday evening, and remained there well into the early morning hours Wednesday. A mobile crime lab unit was parked outside.
The sheriff's office provided no other information, saying it wanted to "protect the integrity of the investigation and to protect the victim's family's privacy."
Mahnomen is about 50 miles northeast of Fargo.
