The following items were taken from incident reports at the Becker County Sheriff’s Office and the Detroit Lakes Police Department:

  • At 6:21 a.m. on June 12, a smashed mailbox was reported at Nelson Lake Road and County Road 5, Lake Park. The side mirror of the vehicle that hit the mailbox was found at the scene.
  • At 2:12 p.m. on June 12, a tree fire was reported on the 12000 block of Shorewood Beach Road, Detroit Lakes, after a tree fell on a power line.
  • At 7:45 p.m. on June 12, an ATV crash was reported on the 40000 block of County Road 26, Ponsford. Details were not available, but a 15-year-old girl suffered a compound fracture and another person suffered a possible head injury.
  • At 12:13 a.m. on June 13, gunshots were reported on the 57000 block of 110th Street, Menahga. The shots were believed to be coming from nighttime racoon hunters.
  • At 6:33 p.m. on June 13 a caller reported a red Dodge Durango on fire at 471 Highway 10.
  • At 12:12 a.m. June 14, a domestic assault was reported on the 1200 block of Eighth Street, S.E., Detroit Lakes.
  • At 10:50 a.m. on June 14, the theft of a trail camera was reported on the 36000 block of County Road 46, Park Rapids. The owner said the camera had been taken about three weeks ago.
  • At 3:43 p.m. on June 14, a house fire was reported on Third Street in Lake Park. The wooden house held two rental units, but everybody got out safely and there were no injuries, said Lake Park Fire Chief Dave Coufal. When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the front of the house, up to the soffit and into the attic, he said. “We put out everything on the exterior and accessed the attic,” he said. There was serious damage to the rafters and considerable water and smoke damage in the living areas, he said. He declined to speculate as to the cause of the fire, deferring to the State Fire Marshals’ Office, which is investigating. The Audubon Fire Department provided mutual aid, and the Wolf Lake Fire Department brought a specialized piece of equipment, an insulation vacuum, to help clean out the attic. Firefighters were on the scene for more than five hours.
  • At 5:49 p.m. on June 14, a resident of the 100 block of Lake Avenue reported someone had unsuccessfully attempted to pry open a door.
  • At 6:03 p.m. on June 14, a burglary was reported at Strawberry Lake Mennonite Church, rural Ogema. Entry was gained through a window. Details were not available on what, if anything, was taken.
  • At 6:30 p.m. on June 14, an electrical transformer was reported on fire in rural Frazee. A Frazee firefighter extinguished it.
  • At 6:34 p.m. on June 14, the theft of a delivery package off the front porch of a residence was reported on the 100 block of Eagle Street, Audubon.
  • At 8:02 a.m. on June 15 a broken fence and broken window were reported on the 700 block of Randolph Road, Detroit Lakes.
  • At 10:13 a.m. on June 15, a lost wallet was reported found in the Frazee area.
  • At 12:01 p.m. on June 15, a motor vehicle accident with minor injuries was reported at Highway 59 and Highway 10 in Detroit Lakes.
  • At 4:40 p.m. on June 15, Audubon firefighters were called to County Road 15 and Deroxe Road because power lines were arcing in the wind and causing trees to catch fire. They were on the scene for nearly two hours.
  • At 10:07 p.m. June 15, a man was reportedly beating up a woman on the 28000 block of Old School Road, Ponsford. Police and firefighters were on the scene for over an hour, but could find no sign of the victim or witnesses.
  • At 2:55 p.m. on June 15, a juvenile female on the 14000 block of Pearl Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, reported a possible sexual assault.
  • At 7:28 p.m. on June 15, the theft of three bicycles from a driveway was reported on the 300 block of Maple Drive, Detroit Lakes.
  • At 10:01 p.m. on June 15, property damage was reported after someone drove through a fence at the Becker County Fairgrounds.
  • At 3:18 p.m. on June 16, a burglary was reported on the 15000 block of County Road 19, Detroit Lakes. Taken were a Nintendo player with preloaded video games, a pair of sunglasses, and about $100 worth of loose change in a jar.
  • At 12:32 p.m. on June 16, a resident on the 36000 block of County Road 21, Ogema, reported the theft of a rake and a shovel.
  • At 2:55 p.m. on June 16, a customer reported theft of merchandise at Walmart. The customer had paid for the merchandise and then set it down and left it unattended and it was taken. Store security is looking through surveillance video to determine what happened.
  • At 12:28 p.m. on June 17, a backpack leaf blower and weed whacker were taken while yard work was being done on the 500 block of South Shore Drive.
  • At 5:04 p.m. on June 17, a Mahnomen resident reported that their father had died, and the money had been withdrawn from his bank account.
  • At 8:22 p.m. on June 17, a motorist reported hitting a large hay bale in the road on the 25000 block of County Road 37. No injuries were reported.
  • At 6:24 a.m. on June 18, Carsonville firefighters responded to a mobile home fire on the 29000 block of 465th Avenue, Ponsford. The resident, who lives alone, said his dog smelled smoke and woke him up, allowing him to get out of the home safely. The State Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was caused by electrical problems with a water heater, and the home is considered a total loss, according to Carsonville Fire Chief Michael Harvey. Firefighters were at the scene for about three hours. The Wolf Lake Fire Department provided mutual aid.
  • At 12:44 p.m. on June 18, a Fargo man reported that gasoline had been siphoned from his vehicle for the second time in two weeks on the 15000 block of Blackhawk Road in the Cormorant lakes area.
  • At 2:38 p.m. on June 18, a woman on the 11000 block of Lake Eunice Road reported the theft of nine firearms and numerous tools. The items may have been taken by family members and could be a civil issue.
  • At 4:26 p.m. on June 18, a burglary was reported at a storage unit at U Store Lock & Leave on Highway 10 W., Detroit Lakes. The storage unit was entered from the empty unit behind it by removing a wall. It’s not clear what, if anything, was taken.
  • At 6:15 p.m. on June 18, a burglary was reported at a residence on the 28000 block of County Road 129, Ponsford. Talken were a Sony PlayStation 4 and an Xbox video gaming system.
  • At 6:58 p.m. on June 18, a vehicle was found on its side at Eagle Lake Road and Pleasant View Road, Frazee. The male driver was found walking down the road. He was not injured.
  • At 9:49 p.m. vandalism was reported in Lake Park. The front of a dumpster had been spray-painted on Front Street.
