At 12:33 p.m., the Frazee Fire Department responded to a train engine fire at Indy 500 Road and Frazee Road. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe train’s lead engine had a small fire, which was mostly under control by train operators using extinguishers when firefighters arrived, according to Frazee Fire Chief Joe Nelson. The train was carrying flour and lumber.

At 11:15 a.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of theft of a political yard sign on the 1100 block of Summit Avenue.

Monday, Sept. 21

At 8:56 a.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft of a Biden/Harris political yard sign off County Road 11, near Big Cormorant Lake.

At 11:11 a.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of a stolen 2007 Chevy Silverado at the Prairie Wind Apartments, off Stone Creek Drive, by the vehicle’s owner. An investigation has been opened and is ongoing, according to police officials.

At 4:22 p.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of theft of a 4x8 political yard sign on the 800 block of West Avenue.

At 8:26 p.m., the Frazee Police Department received a report of theft of two “Mark Flemmer for City Council” yard signs on the 200 block of West Main Avenue in Frazee. Flemmer has served on the city council since 2017.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

At 2:49 p.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of property damage near Washington Avenue and North Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes. The rear operator’s window of a Bobcat-brand backhoe was broken. According to police officials, the backhoe was started and some holes were dug near the Washington Park playground where the heavy equipment was parked for use during road construction along Washington Avenue.

At 4:21 p.m., the White Earth Police Department received a report of a burglary near Strawberry Lake off County Road 34 in Ogema. the caller reported their boat house was broken into via a locked door. Nothing appeared to be missing.

At 5:23 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary near 315th Avenue and State Highway 34, in Detroit Lakes. the caller reported an ajar patio door and the theft of their blue 2006 Chrysler Town & Country.

At 7:22 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary off Highway 34, near Toad Lake. The caller reported broken glass around one of the garage bay doors. At 8:18 p.m., the caller reported that an additional property was possibly burglarized. No additional details were reported.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

At 10:56 a.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft off County Road 110 in Callaway. The caller reported a missing CCR 125 motorbike from the property.

At 4:25 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft near County Road 129 and County Road 37 in Ponsford. The caller reported multiple Biden/Harris political yard signs were stolen from the property.

At 6:59 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fire off Buffalo Lane, near Lake Ida in Pelican Rapids. The Lake Park Fire Department responded to the scene. The caller reported the smell of burning wires inside the residence and an electrical outlet had blown a small hole in the wall. No injuries were reported.
