Crime and fire report: 4 fights reported at Becker County Fair; trailer home fire in Detroit Lakes, no injuries reported

On Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31, four fights were reported at the Becker County Fairgrounds. Medical attention was not needed in any of the incidents, no arrests were made on-site, but one of the cases was referred to the city attorney for possible charges. Also, on Sunday, Aug. 1, on the 38000 block of Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, a trailer home was reported on fire. All occupants of the residence evacuated safely. Officials believed the fire originated in the attic of the residence.

Thursday, July 29

10:06 a.m., 1000 block Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes, marijuana found and destroyed.

12:26 p.m., 1700 block Long Bridge Road, Detroit Lakes, employment scam involving a stay-at-home position

1:56 p.m., 1300 block Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, wallet found and turned-in to the Minnesota State Patrol.

5:31 p.m., 14000 block East Fox Lake Road, Detroit Lakes, swimming raft more than 100 feet from the shore.

7:01 p.m., 36000 block Martin Drive, White Earth, burning ban violation. Fire extinguished.

11:27 p.m., near Detroit Lake, boat playing loud music.

Friday, July 30

6:42 a.m., 33000 block Mary Yellowhead Loop, Ogema, tracks in yard next to a camper. Caller believes the tracks were from an attempted theft of the camper.

1:40 p.m., 21000 block 330th Street, Ogema, catalytic converter stolen from a 1989 Ford F-250 that was parked in a shed.

1:45 p.m., 14000 block Victory Road, Lake Park, 15-year-old male runaway reported.

5:21 p.m., 18000 block Totland Road, Detroit Lakes, text message scam attempted. No information given to the scammer.

6:15 p.m., near County Road 14 and County Road 105, Callaway, roadside ditch fire. Fire extinguished before first responders arrived.

8:18 p.m., 31000 block County Road 10, Frazee, vehicle damaged.

9:10 p.m., 21000 block County Road 21, Detroit Lakes, physical domestic incident. One arrest was made.

10:19 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, fight near the grandstand ticket booth. No medical needed; no arrests.

11:38 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, fight at the demolition derby. No medical needed; no arrests.

Saturday, July 31

3:43 a.m., 23000 block County Road 6, Detroit Lakes, vehicle hit a deer. One vehicle occupant required transport to a nearby medical clinic with undisclosed injuries. Alcohol was possibly involved; under investigation.

10:52 a.m., near 440th Avenue and County Road 39, Frazee, abandoned vehicle found in a swamp. The vehicle was towed and the owner was notified.

3:11 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, keys found.

7:02 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, fight involving three people. No medical needed; no arrests.

8:03 p.m., near Middle Cormorant Lake, Detroit Lakes, reckless driving in a boat.

10:19 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, fight involving two parties. No medical needed.; no arrests. The case was referred to the city attorney for possible charges.

10:23 p.m., at the Becker County Fairgrounds, Detroit Lakes, lost debit card.

10:51 p.m., 35000 block County Road 21, Ogema, suicide related. One person was transported to a nearby medical clinic for evaluation.

11:53 p.m., 200 block Barbara Avenue, Detroit Lakes, window broken at a residence.

Sunday, Aug. 1

2:22 p.m., near mile marker 42 on Highway 10, Becker County, storage unit burglarized. Suspects broke down the unit’s wall and stole various items.

2:44 p.m., 38000 block Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, trailer house on fire. All occupants evacuated safely. Fire is believed to have started in the attic. No report of injuries during the incident.

4:10 p.m., 1300 block South Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes, railroad tie on fire, extinguished.

4:23 p.m., 600 block 2nd Street, Frazee, suicide related. Officer talked to the individual and both determined that a medical evaluation was not needed.

5:21 p.m., 1100 block West River Road, Detroit Lakes, domestic incident; one arrested.

4:45 p.m., 48000 block County Road 26, Ponsford, physical domestic incident. No medical needed; no arrests. The case is under investigation.

10:06 p.m., 20000 block Victor Road, Detroit Lakes, possible physical domestic. No medical needed; no arrests. The case is under investigation.
