Crime and fire report: ATV driver injured in collision with parked pickup truck; multiple reports of trees in power lines Saturday

On Friday, Aug. 20, at 8:34 p.m., on the 15000 block of east Munson Drive, Detroit Lakes, an all-terrain vehicle collided with a parked pickup truck. The driver of the ATV was transported to a nearby medical clinic with facial injuries that were not considered life threatening. Also, on Saturday morning, Aug. 21, at least two trees were reported to be making contact with power lines in Becker County. The connection with the lines caused sparks and smoke. Public utilities workers were dispatched to the scenes.

Thursday, Aug. 19

9:24 a.m., 36000 block County Road 34, Ogema, package theft. Valued at less than $10.

1:05 p.m., 27000 block 260th Street, Detroit Lakes, check book, credit cards and cash stolen from a residence.

1:56 p.m., 900 block Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damaged.

2:49 p.m., at Walmart at 1583 Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, a purse was lost, or stolen. Officials are reviewing the security camera footage. The case is under investigation.

5:44 p.m., 1700 block Long Bridge Road, Detroit Lakes, parked vehicle damaged.

6:53 p.m., 2000 block 290th Avenue, Detroit Lakes, grass fire near Sucker Creek. Fire extinguished after 90 minutes.

8:06 p.m., at Walmart at 1583 Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, shoplifting.

8:48 p.m., 32000 block 250th Avenue, Ogema, assault involving two male parties. No medical attention needed; no arrests.

10:28 p.m., near Migizi Avenue and Mashkiki Street, Ponsford, unattended fire. Extinguished.

Friday, Aug. 20

2:12 a.m., near Highway 59, Ogema, officer involved pursuit. Unknown if any arrests were made.

11:01 a.m., 20000 block County Road 29, Rochert, unemployment claim fraud. Claim originated in California. The claim was denied.

11:18 a.m., 1400 block Stony Road, Detroit Lakes, possible overdose of prescription and over-the-counter medication. A 30-year-old male was transported to a nearby medical clinic.

3:29 p.m., 300 block east Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, driver’s license found.

4:38 p.m., 48000 block Pow Wow Highway, Ponsford, officer involved pursuit; one arrested.

8:34 p.m., 15000 block east Munson Drive, Detroit Lakes, an all-terrain vehicle rear ended a pickup truck. The ATV driver suffered facial injuries and was transported to a nearby medical clinic.

Saturday, Aug. 21

12:07 a.m., 30000 block 179th Street, Detroit Lakes, assault. One party threw a Thermos bottle at another, striking them in the arm. No medical attention needed. No arrests made; under investigation.

2:56 a.m., 37000 block south west Height of Land Drive, Rochert, a 2003, blue Chevy Tahoe was taken without permission; under investigation.

3:50 a.m., near County Road 45 and Highway 87, Menahga, a tree was in the power lines causing sparks. Awaiting power company officials.

7:02 a.m., 800 block east Central Street, Detroit Lakes, domestic incident. One arrested and released. No medical attention was needed.

7:53 a.m., 23000 block Pebble Beach Lane, Detroit Lakes, a tree is touching power lines and is smoking. Awaiting public utilities officials.

11:59 a.m., near Floyd Lake, Detroit Lakes, overturned boat near the public access. All parties were reported safe.

1:52 p.m., 100 block south Lake Street, Frazee, suicide related. A 20-year-old female was transported to a nearby medical clinic for evaluation.

4:30 p.m., near White Earth Lake, Ogema, no boat registration displayed.

4:41 p.m., 400 block Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, wallet found.

7:52 p.m., 11000 block County Road 17, Detroit Lakes, campfire. Extinguished due to burn restrictions.

8:11 p.m., near Pearl Lake, Detroit Lakes, recreational fire. Extinguished due to burn restrictions.

11:56 p.m., 18000 block County Road 6, Audubon, physical domestic. No medical needed. No arrests made; under investigation.

Sunday, Aug. 22

8:04 a.m., near Round Lake, Ponsford, an abandoned pickup truck was found stuck in the mud between the public access and a bridge.

10:34 a.m., 1300 block Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes, wallet found.

10:59 a.m., 900 block Lake Avenue, Detroit Lakes, missing boat equipment.

2:07 p.m., 300 block east Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, shoplifting.

5:40 p.m., 200 block Laura Avenue, Detroit Lakes, multiple items stolen from a vehicle.

6:27 p.m., near County Road 7, Ulen, numerous items stolen. Electric fence damaged. Two electric motors were missing. Three fans had their wiring cut and a controller for a grain auger was stolen.

7:48 p.m., 800 block Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, two-party involved assault. No medical attention needed; one arrested.

9:09 p.m., 47000 block Mashkiki Street, Ponsford, suicide related. A 13-year-old female was found cutting. She was transported to a nearby medical clinic for evaluation.
