At 11:52 a.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of a possible employee theft at JCPenney department store in Detroit Lakes. The case is under an open investigation.
At 5:25 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft on the 100 block of West Johnson Street in Wolf Lake. The caller reported a continuing problem with political signs being stolen. The caller also requested an extra patrol for the area to prevent further thefts.
At 7:47 p.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of vandalism on the 900 block of Washington Avenue. The caller reported a broken window on a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Wednesday Oct. 7
At 7:58 a.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft on Highway 87, near 510th Avenue, in the Wolf Lake area. The caller reported three missing political yard signs. The Biden/Harris, Collin Peterson and Tina Smith signs were 3x4 feet and the thief left the steel posts in the ground.
At 9:57 a.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of a theft on the 200 block of Stone Creek Drive. The caller reported a missing Segway scooter that was taken from a detached garage.

At 10:52 a.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of a theft on the 1100 block of Garnet Boulevard. The caller reported their vehicle had been gone through overnight and some items were missing.
At 11:30 a.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of property damage on Highway 87, near 490th Avenue, south of Wolf Lake. The caller reported the left side of their mailbox was smashed and other mailboxes along the road were smashed as well.
At 12:15 p.m., the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a report of property damage on the 600 block of Washington Avenue. The caller reported their exterior door frame was damaged in a possible attempted break-in.
At 4:40 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fire on County Road 110, near St. Clair Lake, just north of the Callaway State Management Area. The caller reported a small fire in the swamp and the area had been burning for a while. Callaway Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, which occurred in a low, grassy-area and may have been remnants of a controlled brush fire that flared up with the wind, according to Callaway Fire Chief Keith Heinlein.
