A Detroit Lakes man made his first appearance Monday on felony charges of harassment/stalking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Dell Donald Holm, 55, of 25579 East Island Lake Rd., Detroit Lakes, is accused of "causing problems" for a female relative and her boyfriend, who live across the road from him.

According to the complaint, Holm frequently came over uninvited, removed items from their home and drove their vehicles without permission.

He also exhibited "extremely erratic behavior," yelling at and threatening the couple, and often appeared intoxicated, the complaint stated.

One night, they found him alone in their kitchen, in the dark, talking to himself and staring at the ceiling.

When they approached him, he yelled at them and said he was sleeping.

After being told not to come back to their residence again, Holm allegedly tried to return and found the doors locked; someone was at home and heard him trying to get inside, the complaint said.

Holm was convicted of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in October 2008; the conviction meant that he was prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.

In a separate criminal complaint, Holm was accused of being in possession of a .22-caliber rifle on Oct. 7 at his home.

The rifle was discovered after officers came to question him about the other incident.

Holm is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail, pending his next court appearance at an Oct. 17 Rule 8 hearing.

His bail has been set at $75,000 with conditions, or $100,000 without conditions.
