A Detroit Lakes teen was injured in a one-car rollover Friday evening, May 8, on Highway 59 near Detroit Lakes.
Jon Weightman Zima, 18, of Detroit Lakes suffered minor injuries and was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes, according to the State Patrol. The airbag did not deploy and it is not known if he was wearing a seatbelt.
The 2011 BMW sedan he was driving was traveling southbound in the northbound lane on highway 59 before swerving and losing control, according to the State Patrol. The car went into the west ditch, where it rolled and came to final rest in water.
The crash was reported at 11:11 p.m. Friday on dry pavement north of Muskrat Lake Drive in Lakeview Township. No alcohol was involved, according to the State Patrol. Assisting at the scene were the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes police, St. Mary’s EMS, and the Detroit Lakes Fire Department.
