David Suby, a Pickerel Lake resident and longtime construction contractor, has filed as a DFLer to take on Republican incumbent Steve Green in Minnesota House District 2B, which includes most of Becker County outside of Detroit Lakes.
Suby graduated from high school in Fargo, N.D., and earned a chemistry degree from the University of Minnesota, he said in a news release. He owned and operated Suby Construction Company for the next 43 years. He and his wife, Sally, raised two daughters. They always spent summer weekends on Pickerel Lake, near Detroit Lakes and now live there permanently.
"My constituents will inform what I advocate for, but personally I am concerned about the ability to earn a living wage, the health of our citizens and Earth, education, lack of child care in our district, and voter suppression,” he said in the news release.
“The COVID-19 Pandemic has further exposed the fragility of so many families. I want to go to work for my district and be an advocate for much needed change."
