A Detroit Lakes man made his initial court appearances in two separate cases involving the same incident.

Eric Christopher Bakke, 34, was first charged with two felonies of fleeing a police officer in a vehicle and driving after cancellation.

Charges stem from an incident that happened Aug. 29, 2013, when troopers attempted to pull Bakke over on Highway 34 after he was witnessed driving “all over the road.”

According to the complaint filed with the Becker County Courthouse, the officer pulled in front of Bakke, activated his lights and signaled for him to pull over.

Bakke reportedly pulled out ahead of the officer and sped off, reaching speeds of 95 miles per hour before turning off onto County Road 56 where he pulled over.

Bakke then told officers he ran because he had warrants out for his arrest, which he did.

His license had also been revoked.

While in jail, a monitored phone call revealed to police that Bakke had thrown something out the window during the chase.

Officers returned to the scene and recovered a clear, plastic container in the ditch, which contained meth.
