A Detroit Lakes teenager was sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on a felony burglary charge.

Jade Wallace Hedlund, 16, of 25877 Broadway Ave., Detroit Lakes, was given a stay of adjudication on a felony count of second degree burglary; a second count of the same charge was dismissed.

Hedlund was ordered to serve six months' supervised probation and complete 32 hours of community service.

He must also complete a 500-word essay "on the implications of his behavior," submit to a MAYSI mental health screening, and diagnostic screening, and remain law abiding.

Hedlund was charged in connection with a June 8, 2010 break-in at a Becker County residence.
