A Detroit Lakes woman was injured and had to be extracted from her car by firefighters after an accident Tuesday afternoon.
Bobbie Jo Rogers, 37, was taken to Essentia St. Mary's hospital around 4:30 p.m. with serious but non-life threatening injuries to her lower body.
According to the Detroit Lakes Police Department, Rogers was westbound in a green 1998 Chevy Malibu on West Lake Drive near the 600 block when she lost control, slid sideways and crashed into a tree.
She was knocked unconscious and it took the Detroit Lakes Fire Department several minutes to get her out of the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. She suffered a broken hip, leg and ankle on the left side. There were no signs of alcohol impairment. The accident remains under investigation.
At the scene, a man was arrested and charged with obstructing the legal process - firefighters, when he refused to leave the scene when ordered because he wanted to know who was involved in the car crash.
