ROBERTS, Wis. - A man here has been arrested for mistreating a dog after he allegedly injured it with a plastic spoon, leading to its death. The incident happened on New Year's Day in Roberts.
St. Croix County authorities said the nine-month-old Golden lab was screaming for a couple hours before a neighbor went to check on the pet and found the spoon protruding from it.
The dog was taken to a veterinarian and was euthanized because its intestine was punctured.
A 25-year-old man was arrested. He lived where the dog was found, but it was not immediately known if he was the pet's owner.
