Dorothy C. Forbes, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes.
Dorothy C. Quast born to Edward and Ida (Steinkopf) Quast on Nov. 10, 1917 in Buffalo Lake, Minn. When Dorothy was five years old, the family moved to Detroit Lakes, where she attended grade school and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. After high school she went on to attend business college for one year.
On Sept. 22, 1940, Dorothy married Sheldon M. Forbes in Detroit Lakes. Sheldon and Dorothy started the Forbes Building Improvement Company. Sheldon was also in the real estate business, as owner of the East West Realty Company. Dorothy was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
Dorothy is survived by two grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Preceding her in death were her husband Sheldon (October 2004), son Steve (August 1993) and daughter Debra (October 2002).

A memorial service was held Friday, March 31, at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan C. Abrahams officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Arrangements were entrusted to West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
