The Detroit Lakes Eagles Aerie 2342 will be hosting their annual blood drive on Valentine’s Day this year.
The drive will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 14 in the Eagles Club, 112 W. Holmes St., Detroit Lakes. Call Mary Lee at 218-847-8958 for more information.
United Blood Services blood drive coordinator Janel Christen said they had a very successful blood drive in Detroit lakes on Jan. 15.
Space to hold the drive was provided by BTD Manufacturing, which was also responsible for registering donors and providing refreshments.
The drive saw 29 people volunteer to donate blood, with 22 of them being able to give.

Five people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 27 products were collected.
According to Linda Elliott, donor recruitment representative for United Blood Services, “Communities like Detroit Lakes make a regional blood program work. People volunteer to donate when there has been a well-organized campaign, informing the public of the need for blood.”
