On Sept. 19, freshmen from several surrounding school districts were invited to attend a Business and Industry Career Expo hosted by the Detroit Lakes school system. More than 60 different career vendors were present.
Students were able to visit with various career fields represented, including agriculture, food, natural resources, art, communications and information systems, engineering, manufacturing, technology, health science, human services, and business management and administration.
While attending the expo, students were required to interview at least one presenter from each of the career fields. The expo fulfilled a part of the Personal Learning Plan Portfolio, which is a Minnesota State requirement to help students have a clearer pathway plan in place as they approach their senior year of high school.
