BURNSVILLE — Detroit Lakes' Katie Glander was recently announced as one of four regional winners to earn a Student of Integrity scholarship award from the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota.

These scholarships are presented to high school seniors in Minnesota and North Dakota who demonstrate, in an essay, the impact of ethics and integrity in their own lives.

Glander, a senior at Detroit Lakes High School as well as a PSEO (post-secondary enrollment option) student at Moorhead's Concordia College, was among 202 applicants to submit an essay for this year's competition, and received a scholarship of $1,500. The other three student scholarship winners were Andrew Hattling, Elk River, Minn.; Eva Fischer, St. Paul, Minn.; and Smrithi Karthikeyan, Eden Prairie, Minn.

Vergas's Laymon to graduate Saturday from MSU-Mankato

MANKATO — Colton Laymon, Vergas, is among the Minnesota State University Mankato students expected to participate in winter commencement ceremonies this Saturday, Dec. 14 in Bresnan Arena, inside the university's Taylor Center.

Laymon will graduate with a master's degree in athletic training from MSU-Mankato's College of Allied Health and Nursing.

Several local students to graduate from MSU-Moorhead Dec. 19

MOORHEAD — Minnesota State University Moorhead will award degrees to more than 500 students during its fall commencement program on Thursday, Dec. 19 in the university’s Nemzek Fieldhouse.

The 1 p.m. ceremony also includes about 170 graduate students. MSU Moorhead alumna Dayna Del Val, who earned a degree in theater and is now president and CEO of The Arts Partnership, will be the commencement speaker.

Parking will be open in all university lots on commencement day. Lots will not be ticketed the day of the ceremony. Street parking will be available as posted.
