The United Way of Becker County held its first coloring contest this past October, awarding bikes and helmets to six lucky winners.
The contest was open to all children who live in Becker County, and had prize categories for kids ages 2-4, 5-8 and 9-12.
Entries included students from all the school districts in Becker County, as well as several preschools and home schools. In all, 216 children participated in the contest.
To compete, kids downloaded a special coloring sheet from the local United Way's website, colored the sheets at home and then sent photographs to the United Way office.
Winners were selected by a panel representing youth on the United Way board of directors.
Winners in the ages 2-4 category were Stella Lindgaard and Ivan Okeson. Ages 5-8 winners were Sadie Ullrich and Brock Anderson. Ages 9-12 winners were Sophie Burnside and Aedon Harper.
Each of the winners received a bike and helmet. The contest ended during the first week of November.
