A Fargo man is accused of breaking the arm of his 5-year-old son by throwing the boy into his bed, court records allege.
Brian Kirk Bjerke faces a Class B felony child abuse charge in Cass County District Court, which was filed Wednesday in connection with a Nov. 15 incident.
Police allege that Bjerke broke his son's arm when it struck the plastic edge of the bed. Bjerke told officers he was angry at the boy because he'd been teasing, pushing and taking a toy from his young brother.
According to a police report filed with the charges, the father told officers he didn't mean to hurt the boy, but he did admit he "has a short fuse" and probably overreacted.
