(WDAY TV) - A father is facing jail time, after being caught drunk in the passenger seat of his van. In the drivers seat was his 9-year old daughter.
Police released this security video from the gas station. It shows the child pulling up, them inside the store together, and then both of them going back to the van as the drunk father does a little dance.
It happened at 3 a.m. Last week in Brownstown, Michigan. A fellow driver saw the girl in the car driving, he tailed them to the gas station, confirmed what he saw and then watched them leave. Here's his phone call to police.
"Just watched a van pull out of the Citgo gas station. A seven-year-old girl was driving it, and her dad is drunk and he's in the passenger."
LT. Robert Grand - Brownstown Township Detective: "When he opened the door of the full-sized work van, he saw the nine-year-old girl sitting on the booster seat operating the vehicle and asked her how old she was. She said, 'nine,' and then she actually engaged the uniformed officer and asked him why he was pulling her over, that she was driving pretty good."

After being arrested, the man was recorded bragging to police about how good of a driver she is at 9-years old. The girl is now in the custody of her mother.
