Join members and friends of the Laurentian Lakes Chapter, North Country Trail Association for two snowshoe hikes on the North Country National Scenic Trail. Cross country skiers are also welcome.
On Feb. 5, meet at the Hwy. 113 trailhead 0.8 miles west of Becker Co. 37 on MN Hwy 113. The destination for this hike is a 1,700-foot elevation hill 1.8 miles north of the trailhead. The hike will follow the North/South continental (Laurentian) divide. Total hike length is 3.6 miles with return to the trailhead.
On March 5, meet at the Elbow Lake Road trailhead 1.4 miles west of Becker Co. 37 on Elbow Lake Rd. This hike will be 1.9 miles in length one way (3.8 miles total). This hike will also follow the Laurentian Divide and is jointly sponsored by the Prairie Woods Ikes Chapter.
Shorter distances can be accommodated on both hikes.
Abundant snow and an un-packed footpath will require snowshoes or skies for the hikes. Hikers should dress in layers appropriate for the weather and carry water and trail snacks. Children are welcome, but must be with a responsible adult.
