GRAND FORKS -- The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire Tuesday morning at Lithia Ford on 32nd Avenue South in Grand Forks.
Kristin Heffern, Lithia general manager, said she and a few employees were moving a few cars around just before 10 a.m. She said some vehicles had been running for about five minutes.
"We came in to get some keys and then noticed there was a fire under a 2008 Dodge Caravan," Heffern said. "By the time one of my employees had retrieved a fire extinguisher, the flames were out of control."
Fire crews arrived to put out the flames. Heffern said no one was hurt, but the Caravan was a total loss, estimated at $20,000. Heffern said the fire marshal told her the fire started in the engine. She said Lithia received the Caravan from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
The incident is under investigation.
