Rodney Allen Kettle, 31, of 28525 465th Ave., Ponsford was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A felony charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon was dropped in a plea agreement.
On Jan. 2 during an argument with a relative he threatened her with knife, according to court records. He then went to his mothers' residence and took a .22 caliber rifle. Officers responding to a call of "shots fired" found him in a wooded area near his aunt's house.
According to court records, he has been convicted of more than one crime of violence and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
District Judge Thomas Schroeder sentenced him to 60 months in prison -- a term mandated by state law -- and fined him $50 plus court fees, to be taken from prison earnings.
