A White Earth man was sentenced on two felony charges in Becker County District Court Thursday.
District Judge Jack Pearson issued concurrent sentences against Wilmar Hanks, 33, for second-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The charges stemmed from an Oct. 1, 2005, shooting in White Earth. A court trial is pending against a second individual who allegedly fired a single round from a rifle at a man. Hanks gave his rifle to the second person charged, and that man had earlier been physically assaulted by the shooting victim, according to court documents.
Hanks received prison sentences of 39 and 60 months on the two charges, with credit for time served. He was also fined $187.
