FARGO - On the nation's busiest day of travel, expect delays if traveling to the Chicago area by airplane, an airport official said.

Flights on United Airlines and American Airlines to and from Chicago O'Hare International Airport are running about three hours late due to some lingering fog in the upper Midwest, Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of the Municipal Airport Authority, said this morning shortly before noon.

"The dense fog that went through the Chicago area obviously wreaked havoc there," Dobberstein said. "I'm sure there will be some impact to those arriving in Chicago to go to a connecting flight."

He said right now only flights involving Chicago are delayed, and the schedule should normalize by the end of the day.
