The Detroit Lakes Police Department had a good day Tuesday -- catching suspects in two separate burglaries that both occurred during the day when residents were present.
In all, four people were arrested, according to a news release from DL Police Chief Tim Eggebraaten.
The first burglary call came in just before 1:15 p.m. at the Pine to Palm Motel on West Lake Drive. The callers reported that several people had forced open a motel room door.
Police officers, deputies and troopers responded to the area, stopped a car, and three suspects were arrested. One fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended on the 1200 block of Summit Avenue.
A woman in the motel room was assaulted and some items were taken from her room during the incident. Police say the victim declined medical treatment at the time and suffered some cuts and bruises. The break-in was not random and the victim apparently knew her assailants.

Police arrested Michael Dwyane Croud, 30, of Ponsford, Heather Marie Wichern, 20, of Frazee and Nathaniel Lee Simon, 20, of Callaway.
The second burglary was reported in progress just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on the 800 block of Shorewood Drive.
A 16-year-old boy, who was not known to the homeowner, entered the residence and took a duffel bag that he had filled with items from the garage.
The boy left without incident after being confronted by a woman who lived there.
She followed him and directed officers to the location she had last seen him.
The teen was apprehended and taken to the Becker County Jail and later transported to the West Central Juvenile Center in Moorhead.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office assisted the police department on that case as well.
Both burglary cases are still under investigation and have been turned over to the Becker County Attorney's office for review.
