A Frazee man was sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of first degree driving while intoxicated.
Jackson David Hill, 28, of 607 2nd St. No. 16, Town Lake Estates, Frazee, was given a 36-month stayed prison sentence on conditions including up to seven years of supervised probation and 180 days in jail, with credit for three days previously served. He was also fined $4,500, with $3,000 stayed, and an additional $605 in public defender and chemical dependency evaluation fees, but will be allowed to do community service work in lieu of the fines.
A second felony count of DWI in connection with the March 4 incident was dismissed. According to the initial criminal complaint, Hill was pulled over for speeding within Frazee city limits, at which time the officer noticed an opened 12-pack of beer in the back seat with several bottles missing, and an odor of alcohol coming from Hill. He also failed or performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, and after being arrested and taken to jail, a breath test showed his alcohol concentration to be at .15.
