MOORHEAD – A Glyndon man faces attempted murder charges following a domestic assault and stabbing early Saturday morning.
Moorhead police officers responded to a disturbance at 3025 16th Ave. S. around 2:30 a.m. There was a physical altercation between Angel Maldonado Jr., 24, of Glyndon, and his girlfriend. He allegedly threw a tire iron/car jack handle at her, puncturing her back.
Victor Martinez, 21, of Eagle Pass, Texas, intervened and Maldonado stabbed him at least three times in the torso with a serrated steak knife, according to the police report. Martinez was transported to Sanford Hospital by witnesses. He and Maldonado’s girlfriend underwent surgery following their “life-threatening” injuries.
“It was a very serious assault,” Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson said.
