ST. PAUL – Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered that all U.S. and Minnesota flags at state and federal buildings be flown at half-staff Wednesday to honor a St. Paul firefighter who died of a heart attack on duty last week, the governor's press secretary said in a news release.
Shane Clifton, 38, died suddenly at the fire station Aug. 31. He joined the department in October 2007 and was a paramedic firefighter. Before that, he served nine years in the Navy, with deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.
A celebration of Clifton's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Gustavus Adolphus Church in St. Paul.
