Free rides today and Friday to wake, funeral for Tribal Chairman Terry Tibbetts

Funeral services for White Earth Chairman Terry Tibbetts will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen at 2 p.m. Friday. The visitation today begins at 6 p.m. followed by a wake service at 7 p.m. through the night at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex.

The White Earth Tribal council has announced that free rides will be available for Chairman Tibbetts's funeral service Friday and free shuttle services for today's wake.

Friday’s services:

White Earth Public Transit and Circle of Life Academy will provide transportation on Friday, March 22, as follows:

White Earth Community Center: departing at 12:30 p.m.

Ogema Community Center: departing at 12:45 p.m.

Waubun Community Center: departing at 1:10 p.m.

Detroit Lakes Depot/Amtrax: departing at 12:40 p.m.

Callaway Native Harvest/Old School: departing at: 1 p.m.

Bagley Tesoro Gas Station: departing at noon.

Rice Lake Community Center: departing 12:30 p.m.

Naytahwaush Sports Complex: departing at 1 p.m.

Pine Point Community Center: departing at noon.

Elbow Lake Community Center: departing at 12:45 p.m.

Approximate arrival at Mahnomen St. Michael’s Church will be 1:45 p.m. Buses will bring attendees back to their communities after services have concluded.

Overflow parking for Thursday evening’s service will be at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex. Shuttle services will be provided.

On Friday, overflow parking will be at Shooting Star Casino in the north lot. White Earth Transit will run a shuttle service back and forth before and after the services.
