The Detroit Lakes City Council held its first meeting of 2020 on Tuesday, Jan. 7 — an organizational meeting that also included a brief discussion of an upcoming council work session.

Alderman Ron Zeman was unanimously re-elected as vice mayor by the council, and Mayor Matt Brenk noted that there would be no changes to the seating arrangements for council meetings in the coming year.

After those two agenda items were finalized, the board discussed holding a special work session to delve into two high-priority projects for the coming months: Finalizing the design for the new Detroit Lakes Police Department facility, and the South Washington Avenue reconstruction project.

Both items will be on the agenda for the work session at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in the City Administration Building, 1025 Roosevelt Ave.
