Alderman Bruce Imholte, who has served five four-year terms on the Detroit Lakes City Council, will not seek reelection in 2020.
Imholte announced his plans to retire at the end of the year during Tuesday's council meeting.
"I have been proud to serve on the Detroit Lakes City Council for the last 20 years, and honored that city residents have elected me," Imholte said in a prepared statement. "I encourage any city resident interested in serving on the city council to attend upcoming 2020 council and committee meetings."
Also at Tuesday's meeting, the council accepted the resignation of Public Works Director Brad Green, who will retire from his position next month after 13 years with the city. His retirement party will be 1-3 p.m. Feb. 7, with a program to start at 1:30 p.m.
